Raised in East Africa, Walker spent fifteen years in the Yemen, Israel/West Bank, Jordan, Sudan, & Egypt. His current research is early medieval cities in Ethiopia and the Swahili coast. He holds two MSc degrees; History & Archaeology & Heritage Mgmt. (University of Leicester).
